VARSITY - ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Mays is entering her first season with the Knights Volleyball Program as the Varsity Assistant. She began her coaching career at Lawler Middle School in Frisco ISD, where she served as a volleyball, basketball and track coach. Before coaching in the public-school setting, Coach Mays coached AAU Boys’ Basketball for 2 years.

Coach Mays believes that making relationships with as many athletes as possible is the key to any coaching, along with perseverance, determination and hard work.

Coach Mays began her career teaching 5th grade Math and Social Studies in Beaumont ISD. She then made her way back to North Texas, and taught 1st and 2nd grade in Grand Prairie and Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD, respectively, before joining the Physical Education/ILA department at Lawler Middle School here in Frisco ISD.

Coach Mays grew up in Carrollton, Texas where she played volleyball and basketball at Creekview High School before graduating in 2010. She received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 2015. Coach Mays is currently working on her Masters in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Sports Administration through Concordia University.

Coach Mays has been with her high school sweetheart for 12 years and married for two. She is the only girl along with her three brothers and a family full of boys. In her spare time, Coach Mays enjoys traveling, water sports, watching/attending all sporting events, playing sand volleyball, and spending time with family and friends.
